Lady of the lake

So, my favourite proposal is 'The Lady in the Lake'. There are many legends about the Lady in the Lake, which have been recorded in many literatures. A number of locations in Great Britain are traditionally associated with the Lady of the Lake's abode. They include Dozmary PoolLlyn LlydawLlyn OgwenThe LoePomparles BridgeLoch Arthur, and Aleines. In France, she is associated with the forest of Brocéliande. There have been many names for the 'lady of the lake', Different writers and copyists give her name as Nimue, Viviane, Elaine, Niniane, Nivian, Nyneve, and Evienne, among other variations.

I had found researching about the lady in the lake fascinating, she is always made out to be heroic in character; coming to the rescue in others time of needs. She is also to be thought of as rather infatuating and beautiful. So based on the ideas that she's beautiful and alluring....

I have drawn some images of the type of figure I want the lady in the lake to have. I want her to look muscular, tones and strong. I want her to have curves, and be the ideal vision of a deal woman, athletic and beautiful.

However, in the animation i want the character to be glowing so you will only see the silhouette of the 'Lady of the Lake' (LotL) Ill make a prototype image of what I mean to demonstrate my idea in the next blog post.

A honest post.

Okay, so I will admit. I haven't got as much as i hoped to get done as i would have liked. But i have a valid reason. Cutting it short, due to a medical reason i had to have my whole right thumb reconstructed, and i mean 'reconstructed'. I have all of my tendons, ligaments and muscles removed, replaces and reattached, bolted and screwed. This was done mid june. Ive only just been able to get back into the swing of things the last week. Its SO nice to be back drawing - however still with regular breaks which is annoying. Anywho...

I have had a lot of time to come up with some animations ideas and i have one which i have developed considerably and i really want to use the idea for my animation.

More Animation Ideas.

I have done loads of research into one minute animations on youtube and other website. I have been concerned that my ideas are far too ambitious and that i need to think of ideas that i can comfortably fit into a minute.

So here are ideas which don't have much of a story behind them, but could be quite effective.

1) a man will be sitting in a small lagoon in a over grown forest in a small wooden boat at night. He will be sitting there with his fishing rod. There will be rustling and some flickering lights in the forest. All of a sudden the water below the boat eliminates the sky and then dies off. The man looks over the boat and sees a small bright light that falls deeper and deeper into the water and fades away. The man sits back in the boat and his rod starts pulling, he struggles and struggles, the boat flips. He flings in the air and falls on land and on the other side of the lagoon he sees a white female figure walking away from him into the woods....

there are many endings that i could make but i'm unsure of what way to go...

2) I love wildlife

Initial ideas

1) Narration - i will have a young child, girl of boy, talk about their dog. This would be Audio- and the audio would be vital for the film. Without the audio the film wouldn't be as endearing. Whilst the audio is playing i will draw what the child is talking about, but i wanted to play on the child's innocent. For instance, when the child says; "i love my dog, my dog is so good and always does as he is told" and then whilst that is being said - the images will be her dog being told to 'sit' but instead it decides to roll around on the floor playing. And "my doggy loves his dog food, he gobbles it up so quickly." The film will cut to the dog sniffing his food and turning his nose up at it, and then another scene of it reaching onto the kitchen table and it grabbing a sausage etc. This could be a really fun film to work on, it will need a lot of development but I'm feeling quite passionate about it!

2) Imagery. I was thinking about doing a one minute animation based on wildlife - so no audio, or lip sync. It would be based on a little field mouse or squirrel out feeding in the trees, and its being stalked by a bird of prey, this could be a eagle, or a goshawk etc. The Audience knows the squirrels being stalked as the shot keeps cutting from the squirrel to the goshawk. The main idea of the film would be to play around with suspense. How to get the audience worried for the squirrel. Do i need to give the squirrel a family at the beginning? This way the audience will feel emotionally sympathetic for the squirrel, as it is fending for its family finding food, if this squirrel gets killed by a BOP (Bird of Prey) then its babies in hand will die (a series of unfortunate events.)

3) Anthropomorphic Character - a hedgehog who walks on his back hind legs is fascinated by some butterflies that are flying above his head! He whips up some ideas to catch them in a jar. First of all he tries to grab the butterflies by jumping up and down, then he grabs a fishing let and flings it around. However, he is still unsuccessful so he decides to jump on a trampoline. He still isn't successful, then he comes up with the idea of using a long nosed hoover to suck up the butterflies! The film ends in either two ways, the hedgehog happy holding a a jar full of butterflies, or a group of butterflies swarm him and chase him off scene.

Initial Thoughts

Hi, this will be my first post on this new blog. I am studying Animation at Farnham UCA and i will be going into my second year.

The task over the summer was to come up with some ideas for a 1 minute film to do when we get back. The more work we do now, the better as we are working on our films individually and i think we only have 5 weeks to make the films and do al the post production work.

I had a hand operation on my right hand (my drawing hand) and i'm only able to type and use my fingers now, so i thought i would get my ideas down now, as i haven't been able to write or draw ( its been awful!)

I learnt from first year to make sure the ideas i come up with are very simple with only one event or one main character.

I thought i would look at the  show reel from the previous second year. Here is the link:
